NSCT Syllabus
The National Skills Competency Test (NSCT) covers 10 computing areas. This page maps each area to its weightage, the 149 topics we cover, and free practice MCQs with explanations, so you can plan your revision against the whole syllabus.
Where the NSCT syllabus comes from
The NSCT is an initiative of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, and Virtual University of Pakistan is the testing body that conducts the computer-based test. Its competency areas were finalised by an industry-led technical committee headed by P@SHA, with representatives from academia, accreditation bodies, and other stakeholders.
The authoritative list is HEC’s Areas of Competencies page on the official portal, nsct.hec.gov.pk. Always check it, together with the latest student guide, for the current cycle’s dates, question count, and rules. NSCT Prep is an independent practice platform and is not affiliated with HEC, VU, or P@SHA.

How to use the syllabus to plan your preparation
Split your time roughly in proportion to weightage, then adjust for your own weak areas. A high-weight area you are already strong in needs regular review; a lower-weight area you have never studied can still cost you marks you could easily win.
Start with a short mixed quiz across all subjects to find your baseline, then drill the weakest topics one at a time. For a week-by-week plan, read how to build an effective study schedule and our complete guide to the NSCT.
